JEE Main 2025 Session 1 Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the JEE Main 2025 exam, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates should have completed or be pursuing their Class 12 board exams with Physics, Mathematics, and one additional subject such as Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a Technical Vocational subject.
  2. Minimum Marks:
    • General category candidates must secure at least 75% marks in their Class 12 exams.
    • Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories need to secure a minimum of 65% marks in their Class 12 board exams.
  3. Age Limit:
    • There is no upper age limit to appear in the JEE Main exam.
  4. Attempt Limit:
    • Candidates are eligible to attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years starting from the year of their first attempt.

IT JEE Main Counselling Process

The counselling process for admission into IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) through JEE Main is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Here’s an overview of the process:

step1. Registration

  • Visit the official JoSAA website https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/
  • Log in using your JEE Main application number and password.
  • Complete the registration process and provide personal details if required.

step2. Choice Filling Options

  • Select preferred IIITs and courses from the list provided.
  • Arrange the options in order of priority.
  • Once finalized, lock your choices within the specified deadline.

step3. Seat Allotment

  • JoSAA conducts the seat allotment process in multiple rounds based on JEE Main ranks, category, and availability of seats.
  • Check the allotment result online by logging into your JoSAA account.

step4. Accepting the Seat

  • After seat allotment, candidates must choose one of the following options:
    • Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and do not participate in further rounds.
    • Float: Accept the seat but wish to be considered for better choices in subsequent rounds.
    • Slide: Accept the seat but want a better program within the same institute.
  • Pay the seat acceptance fee online to confirm.

step5. Document Verification

  • Report to the designated reporting center for document verification.
  • Required documents include:
    • JEE Main Admit Card and Rank Card
    • Class 10th and 12th Mark Sheets and Certificates
    • Category Certificate (if applicable)
    • Seat Allotment Letter
    • Photo ID Proof
    • Passport-size Photographs

step6. Final Admission

  • After the Final Round of Counselling, Report to the Allotted IIIT to Complete the Admission Formalities.
  • Pay the institute Fees and Submit Necessary Documents as per the institute’s Requirements.
